Do you still remember the tragedy of MH17 plane being shot down on July 17, 2014? Even though six years have passed, surely this tragedy is still fresh in the mind of all Malaysians.
Have you ever known about the sacrifices that The Dozen Person Group had to go through to obtain the evidence of the tragedy? Follow through with this special article obtained from The Malaysian National Security Council.
To execute this country mission which is the assignment of MH17, a team has been established called The Dozen Person and is joined by Chief Consultant Colonel Mohd Sakri Hussin (NADMA), Brigadier General Datuk Dr. Mohd Ilham Haron (ATM - Medical), Dr. Mohd Shah Mahmood (HKl - Pathology and DVI), Major Nazri Musman (ATM), Major Dr. Mohd Hafizi Abdullah (ATM - Medical), Major Muhammad Mustafa Omar (PASKAU - TUDM), Captain Dr. Mohd Zainizam Zainal (ATM-Interpreter), Inspector Abd Rahim Abd Aziz (SMART), Sergeant Shahrizal Abu Bakar (PASKAU - TUDM), Corporal Rosli Mustafa (PASKAU - TUDM), Leading Aircraftman Mohd Afendy Ahmad Zaini (PASKAU - TUDM) and Rosli Shaari (SAPURA Technologies - Communication Specialist).

The group entered the war zone with ‘empty hands’, without any firearms to protect their own safety.
He, who has 38 years of experience in the military and security, humanitarian missions, search and rescue (SAR) and international conflicts, is currently serving as Principal Senior Assistant Director (Operations Coordinating Division) of the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

The operation was not easy. Various bitter trials had to be faced, among it being in the war zone, many stakeholders wanted the evidence.
Aside from being followed, all the way to Donetsk (Eastern Ukraine) this group had to go through 10 ‘checkpoints’ that has many difficulties.
Even more challenging, on the way out of ‘ground zero’, the group also faced various horrific incidents, including an attempt to flee with the evidence and needing the Command Officer in the group to protect the safety of the evidence even though they had to risk their lives.

Vigilance at all times was very important in this operation because, throughout the operation, it was difficult to determine who is a friend and who is enemy for the group.
All through the way to the turbulent region which is controlled by the Donetsk Separatist Group (DSG), the Chief Consultant of this mission always reminded his 11 members to continue fasting and don’t stop praying for God's protection.

The mission was successfully completed within 24 hours, three days after the plane was shot down impressed the international community.
This mission is described as a suicide mission, because other than completing the mission in 24 hours, The Dozen Person also successfully settled the negotiation process without any condition set by the separatist leader, Alexander Borodai, who declared himself the Prime Minister of Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
